Wednesday, August 7 2019: MOSAIC is a grass root, youth volunteer engagement and volunteer training organization. Be part of the living phenomenon. Our annual MOSAIC Family Eid Mela, organized by Ladies Council was a success event. Funds were raised for MOSAIC. Thursday, November 19 2015: Heritage Park hosted the 2015 Ghouls’ Night Out and MOSAIC was more than willing to participate in it! Our volunteers had their makeup and costumes ready for them. Two positions were available in the crafts section working with children, where volunteers were dressed as wizards. Another two volunteer positions were available directing and providing customers with the correct information while being dressed as the Queen of Hearts soldiers singing the classic song "Painting the Roses Red" from Alice in Wonderland. Nonetheless, the mystical night was a blast and we thank our volunteers for putting smiles on so many young people's faces. + continue reading
Thursday, November 19 2015: MOSAIC volunteers got to work hands-on at a construction site helping the community through Habitat for Humanity. No experience was necessary for this opportunity, just an open mind to learn new things and our volunteers stepped up to the plate. Steel toed safety shoes and shirts were provided and every precaution was taken to ensure our volunteers' safety. The event was a success thanks to our wonderful team of MOSAIC volunteers, who brought energy and ambition in turning their goodwill into tangible results. This is what MOSAIC is all about, we can make a difference in even the smallest amounts. This event alone we were able to help a whole family in need. Monday, October 26 2015: On Saturday, September 19, 2015, MOSAIC joined forces with IDRF (International Development Relief Foundation) to create MOSAIC's second annual Eid Bazaar in support of the Syrian Orphans at Genesis Centre. There was a wide arrangement of clothing stalls and food vendors to help everyone prepare for the following Eid festivities of Eid-Ul-Adha. The purpose of this event was to think of those less fortunate, come together as one community and help make everyone's Eid form into a wonderful celebration. This resulted in raising $1500.00 for Syrian Refugees, even the smallest amounts can make a difference and that is what MOSAIC is all about. Sunday, September 21 2014: The world famous Maher Zain: Multi-platinum singer, songwriter and producer Maher Zain and a star of the modern Islamic music scene, visited Calgary for the second time on September 14, 2014. His group of about 10 men toured the country, hitting 10 different cities, in an effort to raise humanitarian aid for Palestine with Islamic Relief. The night was started of nice and slow with a singer from New York, after fundraising, Maher Zain made a grand entrance on stage for an unforgettable performance. The intimate night was filled with joy, excitement and tons of thrill. MOSAIC's volunteers got a chance to meet the stars backstage and more importantly they got chance to snap some selfies! Friday, August 15 2014: On Wednesday, August 13th, the Youth Council of M.O.S.A.I.C held their very event at the North Glenmore Park in Calgary. The event was planned as a Barbecue for all student volunteers from Junior or Senior High to Post Secondary. The aim of the Barbecue was to raise awareness in the growing youth community of Calgary about volunteering opportunities with M.O.S.A.I.C. The Youth Council also hoped to lace with M.O.S.A.I.C On-Campus and the Executive Board and to allow new volunteers and people interested in M.O.S.A.I.C a chance to get to know everyone, and become a part of the M.O.S.A.I.C family.The day was planned with lots of activities, including Pie the President (of MOSAIC), Three Legged Race and a Water Balloon Fight! Saturday, July 5 2014: On Saturday, July 5, MOSAIC, CIVIC & JCC joined forces to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club of Calgary! M.O.S.A.I.C volunteered at this exciting Stampede-themed Break the Fast Iftar Carnival where midway games, face painting, prizes and concession were held all to raise funds for youth programs at Boys & Girls Club!. About 6,000 people gathered for the event. This was the Ismaili Muslim Community’s 18th annual breakfast. Since Stampede fell over Ramadan, they served breakfast after the sun had officially set. It took approximately 485 volunteers in total and six months of planning to host the event- wow! Our volunteers and executives spent the day in Stampede spirit representing M.O.S.A.I.C among the greater communities of Calgary. + continue reading
Saturday, May 31 2014: For the past few years, the executives of MOSAIC have been hosting an awards ceremony to recognize all of our amazing volunteers who have served with us for more than one hour at one of our events last membership year. This year, we celebrated the contributions of volunteers, from April 1st 2013 to April 1st 2014, who have lent a helping hand through M.O.S.A.I.C at one of the great events our partner organizations have put on. Like every other year, this year came with a theme. With the vision of something fun, exciting and sparkling, the executives decided to go Hollywood Style! Yes, the theme for the night was the Oscars. Everything, from the decor to the agenda for the night and of course the outfits fit, the Red Carpet theme. Thursday, May 8 2014: The MOSAIC Men's Council lead by Dr. Zahid Rafiq have been serving lunch at the Mustard Seed on the 1st Sunday of every month over the past 8 months. Taking turns by area of the city, 10 volunteers gather to prepare and serve lunch to the residents. Like kids in a candy store, the volunteers show just as enthusiasm, passion and energy as our exuberant youth and pave the way for young volunteers to give back to our great community! + continue reading
